For tech enthusiasts, the new Apple iPad will be available for purchase on April 3, 2010 in the U.S and pre-orders were available starting on Mar. 12th. The iPad is expected to hike tablet sales to 10.5 million, according to PCWorld. The iPad is supposed to be a different type of tablet than the ones introduced in the past. The features and apps are numerous and the price affordable starting at only $499. Large Touch Screen: The iPad has a large multi- touch screen for viewing web pages utilizing just the flick of your fingers. There is no actual keyboard. There are thumbnail views on a grid with all open pages which allows easy access when switching back and forth.

Email: The iPad makes viewing and touching your emails easier than ever. The iPad is turned horizontally or to (landscape) to view opened emails and messages in a split screen view. Turn it vertically or to (portrait) and the screen fills with just the opened emails. With just the tap or roll of your finger, in either landscape or portrait position, you can compose new emails, check emails, delete or scroll through emails all with your finger and the online keyboard that appears on the large touch screen. The iPad email features are compatible with Mobile Me Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL.

Photos: The iPad photo app shows different albums as stacks of pictures. Tap the stack for the album you want to open and the album opens up. From there you can view a slideshow, flip through pictures, or zoom in and out. The iPad can also double as a digital photo frame when it is docked or charging. There are also multiple ways to import photos.

Watch HD movies, Music Videos, Podcasts, TV shows all on the large high resolution screen. With just a tap of a finger, switch between full screen and wide screen while watching.

You Tube: This app organizes videos to make them easy to watch. Just tap and watch in high resolution.

iBook: With the iBook app, you can buy books from the iBookstore. Once purchased, your book is stored on a bookshelf and you just touch the book you want to read and it opens.

IPod: The iPad will function as an iPod. Listen to music with the built in speaker or with Bluetooth wireless headphones.

There are 150,000 iPad apps available to purchase from the iStore. Downloads are quick and easy directly to the iPad.
